Ensconced in the magical Olifant’s River Valley, the recently opened Clanwilliam Lodge’s Moorish décor with muted desert-like tones creates a tranquil and restful mood.

Only a two hours’ drivefrom Cape Town, the lodge offers 32 luxury air-conditioned en-suite rooms, a poolside restaurant, atreatment room and delicious cuisine. Guests can enjoy balmy days lounging on Bedouin daybedsat the swimming-pool. Clanwilliam’s rich settler history offers a central location for a variety ofattractions from flower-viewing to Bushman Rock art and a range of watersports.

In keeping with the rich history of the area, Clanwilliam Lodge itself is a transformed girls’ hostel, originally built in 1916. Much of the furnishings in the lodge are made from wood from the original building. Conference facilities are available.

Directions

Take the N7 highway out of Cape Town north for 212km (± 2hrs). You will pass through the towns of Malmesbury, Moorreesburg, Piketberg and Citrusdal, arriving at Clanwilliam. Turn off the N7 into Clanwilliam and you will see Clanwilliam Lodge on the right hand side of the road.
