Situated in the north-east of Lake Malawi on Likoma Island, Kaya Mawa Lodge is surrounded by ancient baobabs, sandy beaches and rocky coves. Meaning “Maybe tomorrow” in the local Tonga dialect, the lodge was built entirely by hand. Seven stone and teak-framed thatch cottages are set into a granite headland, creating a unique ambience within the natural surroundings. Each cottage faces the crystal-clear waters of the lake and has a mahogany four-poster bed, a sunken stone bath, shower and private terraces. The honeymoon house is tucked away on its own private island, accessible only by boat. Activities include scuba- diving, PADI diving courses, snorkelling, sailing and visits to the local villages.
