Family-owned and managed since 1933, the internationally award-winning Lion Sands Private Game Reserve is the only private reserve to have access to the perennial Sabie River, ensuring an incredible diversity of wildlife all year round.

The lodge offers the highest standards of service and accommodation. The six ultra-luxurious suites at Lion Sands Ivory Lodge each have an en-suite bathroom, outdoor and indoor shower, courtyard, lounge with fireplace, wooden viewing-deck, patio and private plunge-pool.

Ivory Lodge is about African-European elegance, sophistication yet simplicity, perfect harmony, exclusivity, sensitivity and complete privacy. Lion Sands River Lodge has been built on the banks of the Sabie River. The lodge faces due east, catching the sun as it rises over the Kruger National Park, and has 18 luxurious thatched bed-rooms with en-suite bathrooms and outdoor and indoor showers. Facilities at the lodges include the River Island Deck, a bird-hide, wooden viewing-decks, indoor and outdoor dining ven-ues, a bar with fireplace, health spa and gymnasium, library and curio shop.

A diverse program of activities, customised to enhance and complement the African luxury safari experience, includes open Land Rover game-drives, interpretive bush walks, wildlife lectures by the resident ecologist or the team of qualified rangers, bush breakfasts and dinners, safari lunches, astron-omy, treatments at the Lalamuka Health Spa, a hippopotamus tour, or spending a night under the African stars in one of two romantic Treehouses.

18	River Lodge Suites
	The rooms at River Lodge offer respite and protection from the Lowveld heat. The interior is a tranquil cream and beige haven, cool in the summer, cosy in the winter. The bathroom, with its tranquil look and pebble-inlaid floors complements the bushveld well. There are 18 luxurious thatched bedrooms with en-suite bathroom, outdoor & inside shower & wooden viewing deck. The bedroom area is air-conditioned with an overhead fan. All rooms have mini-bar & telephone access. The rooms are linked to all areas by raised wooden walkways. Room Amenities: King size bed with mosquito netting (can be made up as twin bed), en-suite bathroom, inside and outside shower, bath and vanity basin, private viewing deck, air-conditioning and overhead fans, mini-bars, safe and telephone. 6	Ivory Lodge Suites
	The Lodge comprises six generously sized privately situated villas, each with a separate living room, heated swimming pool and an open plan en-suite bathroom with an enclosure for the outdoor shower – 6-star luxury in the middle of the bush. The colour scheme of ebony and ivory is interpreted in a modern style, while selected African accessories blend the old world with the new to create Afro-Euro chic. Breathtaking views of the Sabie River, which has flowing water all year around, can be viewed through the oversized windows of your villa or from your private viewing terrace. Baby elephants bathing in the river, zebra, gnu and the large Nile crocodile are the only neighbours you shall see. Directions

1. Air Transfers to Lion Sands and Tinga Scheduled Flights – Nelspruit, Kruger Mpumulanga International (KMIA) There are two airlines that service the KMI Airport namely: Airlink and British Airways. Direct flights are available from Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Charter Flights – Johannesburg to Skukuza There are daily charter flights, operated by Bateleur Air Charter and Federal Air, available directly from Johannesburg International Airport (ORT) to Skukuza Airport (SZK). The estimated time of this transfer is 1h15 min. These charter flights can only be booked through More Hotels Reservations.

Land Transfers to Lion Sands and Tinga Land Transfers from KMI Airport to Lion Sands and Tinga Should you require a land transfer from KMIA Airport to Lion Sands and Tinga this can be booked and arranged through More Hotels Reservations.

Guests will be met at the airport and transferred in an air-conditioned vehicle. The distance to Lion Sands is approximately 110 kilometres and is estimated to take 2 hours and to Tinga is approximately 130 kilometres and is estimated to take 2 ½ hours.

Land Transfers from Skukuza Airport to Lion Sands and Tinga Should you arrive with a charter flight at Skukuza Airport; Lion Sands and Tinga will collect you in an open Land Rover and transfer you to the lodge.

Distance is approximately 10 kilometres and is estimated to take 25 minutes.
This transfer service is complimentary.

2. Self Drive to Lion Sands Gate entrance fees into the Sabi Sands are as follows for 2011.
Until 31 August 2011 – R110.00 per vehicle plus R20.00 per person 1 September – 31 December 2011 – R120.00 per vehicle plus R30.00 per person .

These fees are payable in cash or by credit card upon arrival at the gate. Master and Visa credit cards are accepted as credit card payment.
