Situated in the big-game region of Welgevonden, a dramatic landscape of savannas, waterfalls and craggy mountains, Makweti shares a border with the Marakeli National Park. The main lodge is built into the natural rock formations of the Waterberg mountains and is decorated with antique African art and furnishings.
Accommodation consists of five stone-and-thatch chalets, each with a fireplace, bathroom, mosquito nets and all essential modern conveniences. All units have a sense of seclusion and beautiful vistas from their viewing-decks.
Dinners are served either in the formal dining-room or around a campfire in the boma. Guests can enjoy game-drives in open Land Rovers, guided bush-walks or a visit to the Khoi-San cave-paintings. The area is malaria-free, and has the Big Five and over 350 bird species.
