Description |
Mhondoro Lodge has been open to the public since July 2003 and in one short year achieved a 5 star rating from the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa.
Mhondoro lodge can accommodate 10 people in 3 individual chalets, and one luxury double unit. Each unit has a private viewing deck, a full luxurious bath, as well as indoor and outdoor showers. The luxury double unit boasts 2 bedrooms (both with en-suite bathrooms), a central sitting room and a jacuzzi. The units stretch 200 meters along a ridge with spectacular views over a game-rich plain and private waterhole to the Waterburg Mountains in the distance.
The main lodge houses an outstanding living area, dining room, full-scale kitchen and an expansive Teak deck that includes a small plunge pool. The gymnasium and steam room below the deck looks out on to the plains. A beautifully decorated unit that serves as an entertainment and conference area is situated a few meters from the main lodge. The lodge was designed and decorated by well-known South African designers whose work includes Singita and Tswalu lodges.
Mhondoro is renowned for its outstanding cuisine which can be described as African Fusion. The lodge boasts 3 qualified and acclaimed chef's who strive to please even the fussiest of pallets - succeeding every time!

Directions to Get There :
North on the N1 past Pretoria East towards Pietersburg (Polokwane). Come off the N1 at the Kranskop Toll Plaza, turn left and head west through Nylstroom and Vaalwater. Do not deviate from the main road when passing through either Nylstroom or Vaalwater. The Welgevonden Main Gate is 26km from Vaalwater on the left hand side. The distance is approximately 270 km from Johannesburg and should take about 2½ - 3 hours. You will be met at the boma on the left with refreshments.
