The lodge, created from a farmhouse built at the turn of the century, is set in lush gardens, beside a forest and overlooking the crystal-clear waters of a spring-fed lake. The lodge is situated at 1,200 metres on the slopes of Mount Meru. The thick walls, heavy timber beams and period decor impart comfort and charm. Accommodation comprises eight large garden rooms and two suites in the main house. 200 species of birds have been recorded, and Colobus and Sykes monkeys roam the forest.Guests can enjoy a sundowner on the veranda while viewing the changing colours of the Kilimanjaro glaciers. Excursions include day walks, trout-fishing, horse-riding, yoga, game-viewing amid the spectacular scenery of Mount Meru, and extended traditional safaris. Transfers are arranged to Kilimanjaro and Arusha Airports.
