Situated only 30km from the Gary Player designed golf-course at Alicedale, Pumba is a malaria-free, Big Five game reserve. The luxurious Pumba Safari Lodge, which overlooks Lake Kariega, has 12 private, stone-and-thatch waterfront chalets, leading off meandering timber footpaths.
The chalets open onto private decks with outside showers and plunge pools. The Bush Bar and floating Pier is the ideal setting to enjoy a sundowner before dinner. Dinners are cordon bleu delights, complemented by an extensive collection of wines.
