Umngazi is situated on the Umngazi Estuary in the heart of The Wild Coast with its rocky coastline, indigenous forests, secluded coves and many rivers. Accommodation options include sea-, garden- or river-front thatched bungalows. Guests can choose between swimming in the pool, the river or the sea, fishing off the boat or rocks, walking in the forests and bird-watching cruises at sunset.

Umngazi has a gym and a spa, which offers various treatments and a 180 degree view of the Indian Ocean. Children’s activities range from dune-surfing, mullet cruises, arts and crafts at the creative corner and a slippery slide. Directions

Approaching from the south (East London and Port Elizabeth) Umngazi lies 90kms due east of Umtata (along the R61) on an extensively tarred and scenic route.

Turn right in Umtata towards Port St Johns and then right again about an hour later to Umngazi.

Approaching from the north, (Durban and Pietermaritzburg) the shorter route (R61) is tarred all the way to Umngazi (via Bizana, Flagstaff and Lusikisiki). Remember to turn right after crossing the Port St Johns bridge and then left at the Umngazi turn-off a further 11km's will take you to the Hotel gate. Alternatively, travel via Umtata to Port St. Johns.
